President's Message -
Gray Bridwell
As part of my duties to the chapter, I am required to listen and learn from things I have heard about various activities our chapter is involved in. In a recent visit to the Tower Cab, we were discussing the upcoming Young Eagle's day in May. I was lamenting about how it was a great program that demanded hard work from many individuals. The response was prompt and clear,
AYes, it makes us tired too.@I did not think much about the conversation until later. The use of the word us is a great thing that we as a chapter have achieved. It was clear that its use indicated that we were operating as one.
Through FAA appreciation dinners, breakfasts, and involving the controllers in the chapter's activities, we have developed a great relationship. In the past month two controllers have joined our chapter and are very interested in
beginning building a plane. As members, encourage involvement every chance you get.
This Saturday . . .
Following the chapter breakfast this Saturday, EAA 471 is sponsoring a Poker Run. Please note the flyer for this event elsewhere in this newsletter for all the details.
The breakfast, Poker Run and Lunch will be on the Northwest side of
the airport (our own digs). There will also be a brief Board of Directors meeting during breakfast.
March is Hangar Maintenace Month -
In various conversations with airport manager Rick Crider, our leadership has been discussing the rehabilitation of the Northwest side of the airport.
EAA hangers--- among other things have been discussed.
According to our lease with the city, we are required to perform basic maintenance on the hangers. Gray has suggested (yea mandated) that we declare March as Hangar Maintenance Month.
We want to report to the airport administration that each hangar has been inspected (they have) and that the doors have been greased and other necessary maintenance and clean up attended to
. If you need help with any of the maintenance, please notify any club officer or board member. Or grab any of us hangar bums. We work cheap. And Speaking of Hangar(s)
Gray has conducted a pole of members and found the following:
We will be looking into building our own chapter hanger and not enter a joint venture with multiple parties. It will be ours! This will be further discussed Thursday night at the chapter meeting.

Pecan Plantation Fly-Out
Last month's fly-out to Pecan Plantation was well manned and received rave reviews. Our thanks to the folks at Grandbury for hosting our club. We will have a feature on this event in next month's news. Our writer could not meet the deadline for this edition, but did send some knock-out pictures.
